RAUWOLF is a luxury accessories label conceived by German born, New York based Designer, Kristine Johannes. After working on the design teams at Calypso, J. Crew, and the award-winning accessories brand, Devi Kroell, Johannes was inspired to start her own label that challenged the standard formula for luxury and offered women of the 21st century something new and unexpected. “So much of the industry seemed to have settled into a comfort zone of simple shapes in exotic materials and skins,” says Johannes. “I was committed to only working with unusual materials and innovative techniques that didn’t exist anywhere else.”

Johannes introduced her line of architectural plexiglas clutches in spring of 2012 and quickly turned the traditional meaning of luxury on its ear. “Plexiglas is not a material traditionally considered luxurious,” explains Johannes, “but it’s extremely versatile and can be cut and molded into beautifully intricate shapes and unusual forms.”

RAUWOLF pieces are carefully handcrafted in Italy using a range of unique materials and design elements, including inlaid mirrors, liquid injections, razor-cut wood, resin, and engraving, making each one of Johannes’s ultra-modern designs by nature, one-of-a-kind.

Since its launch, RAUWOLF has garnered the attention of high-profile celebrities like Kate Bosworth, Naomi Watts, Emma Watson, Dakota Johnson, Katy Perry, January Jones, Kate Beckinsale, and Emily Blunt, amongst others.

Johannes’s collections have also been featured in a variety of publications worldwide such as Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, WWD, Architectural Digest, Elite Traveler, Elle Décor, and countless others.

Beyond her seasonal collections, Johannes continues to expand her label with the launch of RAUWOLF Bridal in May 2015, offering brides her modern take on timeless luxury in a collection of 18-karat gold, mother of pearl, and delicate French lace clutches. For a more personal touch, Johannes offers a bespoke service to clients, ranging from engraving to designing an entirely exclusive piece with Johannes for a special occasion.
